Cardano jumps 28% in a week: what stands between ADA and $0.30

Cardano’s September rally has pushed its price toward $0.26, bringing ADA close to a Fibonacci target near $0.30 following a decisive break above its 200-day exponential moving average.

Data from CoinGecko shows that on Sept. 23, ADA traded close to $0.25—reflecting a 2% rise over the prior 24 hours and a 27.7% surge across seven days—while registering a trading volume of roughly $879 million.

These upward moves follow Cardano’s integration with the x402 payment standard. Originally created by Coinbase, x402 embeds payment instructions directly inside internet requests, allowing developers to design applications and AI agents capable of purchasing online services using ADA alongside native Cardano tokens.

The Cardano Foundation revealed the integration on Sept. 21, officially adding Cardano to the x402 software kit. Although the network’s preproduction environment has successfully wrapped up an end-to-end transaction, mainnet commercial payments scaling have not yet been demonstrated.

As ADA’s price grew, network activity strengthened in tandem, signaling that the rally coincided with increased utilization of the Cardano blockchain.

DeFiLlama figures reveal that active Cardano addresses jumped by roughly 60% in a single day, rising from about 14,000 to surpassing 22,000.

Meanwhile, CardanoScope logged 33,919 transactions on Sept. 21, marking a 71% increase from its Sept. 16 weekly low of 19,844. Active addresses reached a peak of 16,388 for the week, while Plutus script calls climbed to 11,891.

A rise in network activity typically points to improving market sentiment surrounding a network, which can help sustain demand for ADA if usage stays elevated.

Broader improvements across the crypto sector provided supplementary support for ADA. Coingecko reported that Bitcoin jumped by as much as 7.7% to $87,354 on Sept. 23, while various large-cap altcoins ticked upward alongside returning market demand.

Derivatives trading further fueled ADA’s rally. Futures open interest scaled to approximately $578 million as market participants expanded their exposure. Short positions represented more than 80% of liquidated ADA positions, generating extra buying pressure as bearish bets were forced into closure.

As ADA advanced, the forced closure of bearish bets sustained this buying pressure.

Recent statistics from Coinglass showed open interest climbing past $606 million, signaling that traders continued opening leveraged positions as ADA moved higher.

Out of $3.28 million in liquidations over a 24-hour window, bearish positions accounted for $2.49 million, confirming that short liquidations kept stoking the rally.

ADA price analysis

ADA’s daily price has advanced to about $0.257 after punching through the $0.24 zone that previously halted past breakout attempts.

Trading volume has expanded throughout the breakout, with multiple recent green daily candles backed by heavier volume.

The asset now trades above all four daily exponential moving averages. The 20-day EMA sits at $0.2218, the 50-day EMA at $0.2083, the 100-day EMA at $0.2051, and the 200-day EMA at $0.2393.

Surpassing the 200-day EMA holds particular significance for the current breakout because ADA spent months trapped underneath this long-term average.

Sustaining levels between $0.239 and $0.24 would keep the price safely above both the prior resistance zone and the 200-day EMA.

Fibonacci extensions mapped from the latest price action place the 1.618 level at $0.2594, sitting just above current values.

A daily close past $0.2594 would clear the path toward the next major extension at the 2.618 level of $0.3021, placing $0.30 inside the active technical range.

Selling pressure could emerge between these targets, with $0.27 and prior May highs near $0.28 to $0.29 serving as notable intermediate levels to monitor.

Clearing those milestones would set up the $0.30 to $0.302 region as the ultimate Fibonacci target.

On the 4-hour timeframe, ADA’s Directional Movement Index displays a +DI reading of 31.71 versus a −DI of only 3.54, as shown below.

Consequently, buyers maintain firm control at current prices, though the spread between the two metrics has grown unusually wide following ADA’s rapid ascent from beneath $0.20.

The ADX indicator on the same timeframe has surged to 59.02.

Readings above 25 generally signal an established directional trend, while a reading near 59 highlights that the recent breakout features significantly stronger momentum than ADA exhibited through August and early September.

Failing to crack $0.2594 would establish $0.24 as the primary support zone to watch during any retracement.

Beneath the 200-day EMA at $0.2393, the 20-day EMA near $0.2218 supplies the subsequent support layer, followed by the 50-day and 100-day EMAs around $0.2083 and $0.2051.

Ultimately, ADA must hold above $0.239 to protect its current daily breakout structure, while a decisive push past $0.2594 will unlock the way toward the $0.27–$0.29 intermediate zone and the $0.3021 Fibonacci target.
